What We Do
Since 2013 we have been promoting and advocating in using high altitude ballooning for STEM activities in both K-12 and higher learning. We accomplish this through conferences, papers, and networking of experts from all backgrounds. Through these activities, students can better appreciate STEM and learn valuable skills needed in the workforce.
Our Mission
The SBA’s mission is to support those engaged in high altitude ballooning by promoting the field to others, mentoring practitioners, and facilitating collaboration.
Our Vision
The SBA’s vision is to promote high altitude ballooning through empowering its members and public on high altitude ballooning, to encourage collaboration with all those that wish to participate and to advance the science, technology, engineering, operations and policy of high altitude ballooning.
“Students learn best through doing and high altitude ballooning allows for an affordable way for students to get excited about STEM and gives them a peek at the wonders of outer space.”
— Prof. Matthew E. Nelson, SBA President
